Geoffry Song 3/24
- Pianosu
- Like typical beatmania-like, but notes
- Very different
- Played music Sang in acapella group in Dropbox
- Interface is about what I would expect
- Depends on what you would be targetting (off-the-cuff thing)
- Reminded of game for a game jam -- work and also singing to your plants
- Reply to email to have things go away
- Using ASDF/JKL; is a limiting input method for music
- Being limited isn't always a bad thing
- When you see the notes — they translate to foot motion
- Seeing the notes makes a pattern that makes sense
- Charting — process: Take the song rhythm, figure out where notes should go, and change it if it's awkward
- UI makes it basic; go forward, press one of 4 beats
- Does mapping happen in real time?
- Stepmania might have a realtime mode, but it didn't work that well for Geoffry
- Hard to make it on the beat. If you don't know where you're going, hard to be precise (compared to seeing it on the screen)
- Making it up - wishy washy; it can be 1/16 off, came up with it a bit too late
- If you don't have a ground truth
- Could do an audio processing to find the beats
- When the notes actually are in
- Never tried it live on a cab
- Not good on stepmania
- friday night funkin
- Strawberry - weekend project. Done in a couple nights
- Starting one's own thing is something your dad really wants you to do
- Same bucket as "you should become a doctor"
- Leave before it gets bad (Dropbox too)
- Canada — if you want to make money, opportunity isn't there. Not a lot of tech jobs. Boring jobs, nothing cutting edge
- If Geoff were to quit, maybe farm in Canada
- Upsides of physical work
- Harder to make social connections
- Making work acquaintences
- Making it easy to work with people
- Within your team — you can see the people on you rteam
- You always have to work outside your team; in a remote env, they are always strangers
- Very fun to be obsessesed with something
